Immigration Requirements for Entry and Exit from Paraguay
The National Directorate of Migration (DNM) is the competent authority for migration control in Paraguay. All individuals, both nationals and foreigners, must register their entry and exit at authorized migration posts located at land, river, and airport border crossings.
Valid Travel Documents
For Paraguayan citizens:
- Valid passport or
- Valid Paraguayan identity card (valid for travelling within MERCOSUR).
Note: Expired travel documents are only valid for entry into the country and must be renewed in order to leave the national territory.
For foreigners with permanent or temporary residence in Paraguay:
- Valid passport together with the provisional, temporary or permanent admission certificate.
- Valid identity card of the country of origin (valid for travelling within MERCOSUR) together with the provisional, temporary or permanent admission certificate.
- Valid Paraguayan identity card.
For foreigners in temporary residence (non-residents):
- Valid passport.
- Valid identity card from the country of origin (only valid for travelling within MERCOSUR).
- Consular or on-arrival visa (in accordance with the entry regulations).
- Proof of entry (migration stamp in passport or stamped migration card).
Additional information:
Temporary stay: For foreigners who enter the country without intending to settle there, such as tourists or transit passengers. The maximum length of stay is 90 consecutive days, extendable once.
